The polished wood desk that already shows its first scratches after three months of typing
That moment at your desk when the mouse runs unevenly on the bare wood surface and the keyboard loudly clacks with every keystroke. The expensive solid-wood or glass desk that shows its first micro-scratches from keyboard feet and mug bottoms after just a few weeks. The spilled sip of coffee that lands directly on the wood surface. This large wool felt desk pad solves that with three features: soft felt for the mouse, a cushioning layer to reduce clatter, and a non-slip backing to protect the desk surface.
What makes this desk pad different
-
Smooth wool felt surface for precise mouse movement – the finely textured felt surface provides consistent friction for the mouse, both for standard office mice and gaming mice. Unlike bare wood or glass desks, where optical sensors sometimes jump.
-
Non-slip backing with drip-moulded structure – the textured underside grips smooth desk surfaces and helps prevent slipping, even when the keyboard and mouse are moved with pressure.
-
Protection for wood, glass, and painted surfaces – the felt layer acts like a soft buffer between keyboard, mouse, books, mugs, and the desk surface. The scratch-resistant surface helps keep scratches, pressure marks, and small coffee drops off the desktop.
-
Wool felt absorbs small amounts of moisture – a small spilled drop is absorbed by the felt fibres instead of running directly onto the wood underneath. Quickly wiping it up is usually enough to get the spot clean again.
-
Acoustically dampening felt layer – the soft material can reduce the clatter of mechanical keyboards and the sound of setting down mugs or pens, especially in open living-work areas or at a shared table.
-
Large work area – the mat covers the entire main work area from the monitor base to the front edge of the desk and gives keyboard, mouse, notebook, and smartphone space on a single continuous surface.
-
About 2.5 mm thick for cushioned comfort – the subtle padding gives wrists and forearms a softer rest than the hard desk surface, without noticeably changing the natural writing height.
-
Leather/felt tag at the corner – the small loop acts as a handle so you can quickly lift the mat to wipe underneath or remove it for cleaning day.
Who it's for
For people working from home who want to protect their expensive solid-wood or glass desk from everyday micro-scratches. For heavy typers who are bothered by the loud clatter of mechanical keyboards on hard surfaces. For mouse users whose optical sensor behaves inconsistently on glass or high-gloss desks. For gamers and designers who want a large, even work/play area for mouse movement. For renters who need to protect the surface of a furnished desk from wear and tear. For students who need more space for writing and to place a notebook side by side. And for anyone who wants to give their desk setup a warm, tasteful look.
Set up, clean, care
Before first use, lay the desk mat out flat for a short time so any folds from transport can relax – for deeper creases, lay the mat flat with some weight on top overnight. Place the anti-slip side facing down and position it in the centre of your desk so your keyboard, mouse, and monitor stand fit comfortably on it. On smooth desk surfaces, the mat adheres securely; on very textured or rubberised desks, grip may be reduced. Place your keyboard, mouse, notebooks, and smartphone directly on the felt surface. For light soiling, vacuum or roll it off with a lint roller or brush. For liquid spills, dab immediately with an absorbent cloth rather than rubbing, so the moisture doesn't spread through the felt. For heavier stains, use a damp cloth with lukewarm water and a drop of mild cleaner, gently blot, then dab dry with a clean cloth and allow to air-dry completely. Do not machine-wash the felt, as it can shrink and lose its shape. Do not place hot items like hot mugs or soldering irons directly on the mat, as prolonged heat can damage the material. If not using the mat for an extended period, roll it loosely and avoid sharp folds so no permanent creases form.
For anyone who wants to protect their desk from scratches and enjoy a softer, quieter surface for typing, writing, and clicking.
