When the wet road surface reflects the setting sun so much that you can't see a thing
Tinted lenses darken everything, including what you actually want to see – the reflection on the asphalt is still there. Same at the water and in the snow: the brightness is less of a problem than the glaring light bouncing off the surface. These sunglasses have polarised lenses and a square frame with spring hinges.
What makes these sunglasses special
-
Polarising filter in the lens – Light reflected from horizontal surfaces oscillates mostly in one direction; the filter blocks exactly this direction, which is why reflections on asphalt, water, and snow are greatly reduced without making the overall image darker.
-
UV400 label – The lenses block radiation up to 400 nanometres, covering the entire UVA and UVB range; simple tinting without a UV filter is actually a disadvantage, because the pupil opens wider and lets more radiation into the eye.
-
Spring hinges on the temples – The temples flex outward instead of bending out of shape when you take the glasses off, put them in a pocket, or pull them over a wider head.
-
Textured outer side of the temples – The embossed surface gives you grip when putting them on and taking them off, where smooth, polished temples would slip through your fingers.
-
Square frame with straight top edge – The clean line creates contrast with round face shapes; the rounded lower corners keep the shape from looking too harsh.
Great for driving, especially on wet roads and with low sun, for fishing and water sports, for skiing and hiking in the snow, and for everyday summer wear. The manufacturer does not provide any information on lens width, bridge width, or temple length – for glasses, these measurements determine the fit and should be requested before ordering.
How can you tell if the lenses are really polarised?
Using a screen: If you hold the glasses in front of a phone display and rotate them 90 degrees, the display will become significantly darker or even black with polarised lenses. This is also the well-known side effect – some navigation displays and petrol station readouts are harder to read with such lenses. Clean the lenses only with a microfibre cloth; never wipe them dry, as dust particles can cause scratches.
